Apr. 6th, 2010 03:31 amSo, with a great deal of help and advice from
sumire_no_hana, I have updated the TakaWiki with cast list and role names for this summer's Trafalgar. (Dude, TRAFALGAR) Information that has been concluded:
Mii-chan is French, not British. So much for the dream of M'man Mii-chan. On the other hand, she is very likely TOMU!NAPOLEON'S BROTHER. EEEEE!!! (If I'm right, Ecchan is their sister)
Chii-chan has a French girl's name. Iiiiinteresting.
Dai-chan and Kacha both have first and last names but no immediately obvious historical parallels.
Sattsun is playing the best diplomat ever. Hee.
Ten-chan's character may be a controversial French Abbe. o.O
In conclusion, I believe I am very very excited about this show.

Feb. 11th, 2010 10:15 pm*happy little puddle of Takarazuka joy*
I was stupid tonight. I thought there was a Theatre grad student social tonight, when in fact it's two weeks from tonight. *facepalm*
However, with my unexpected early home, I finally got to watch Soragumi's 2004 Phantom. (It arrived on Tuesday, I say finally since I've been wanting to see it for about four and a half years, since I first saw the song "Home" on YouTube) It didn't disappoint. Wao and Hana were beautiful and glorious and perfect and ADORABLE and...and... *happy sigh* And there were little glimpses of my Mii-chan! and Dai-chan and Eriko and Kacha! And Taki-san was perfectly cast and Juri-pyon was wonderful and Touko was very nice playing a character I didn't like at all. and darling little Mihoko! and Machami and Tacchin! And precious baby Alice, so CUUUUTE!
And now I'm on to A/L and Mii-chan STARTS THE SHOW with Micchan who is ROCKIN' the deerstalker and there's Tani and... *happy happy happy*
::edit:: MII-CHAN! DRESS! WHAT?! Why didn't anyone tellllllll me?

Feb. 3rd, 2010 07:00 pmTalked to my Sci-Fi and Horror Cinema prof after class about what I should choose as my final paper topic, hoping she'd have a preference, since I'm having trouble deciding. Her response? "They both sound really interesting" Thanks, Professor, that would be why I'm looking at them. I'm not really interested in writing 20 pages of pedantic crap as my final.
So, I turn to you, loyal readers, and the ultimate arbiter of rightness in the world, the LJ poll. (On the understanding that if I have a change of heart, I get to do that, 'cause it's my paper)

Sep. 28th, 2009 02:27 amI suppose, as I rabidly run about buying up 'Zuka, that I should explain why I'm suddenly so obsessed. It isn't just that I'm a nutcase, really. It's looking extremely likely that my not!thesis (20-25 page conference paper which I will have to defend in order to graduate) will be about Takarazuka's treatment of Shakespeare plays. As such, I'm particularly zeroing in on trying to find all the Takarazuka Shakespeares.
I have Romeo & Juliet '99, The Tempest, Epiphany, Rome at Dawn, and Lightning in the Daytime. I'm looking for Dream Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, Say It Again, and Winter's Tale. I would love to see, but am not sure if I'll be able to find Antony & Cleopatra, Kiss Me Kate, and West Side Story. If anyone, especially those in Japan, has leads on any of these recordings (or programs from any of them, I have no Shakespeare programs) I would be deeply grateful if you could point me in the right direction. Also, if there are glaring holes in this list, please let me know!
Arigato gozaimasu.
(Seriously, I'm going to bed now. I have to go to bed now. I have to be up at 8:15. I am going. To. Bed.)
P.S. Dear Diary. Killed nine fruit flies while standing at my bathroom sink to brush my teeth. Am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous that there were more than nine fruit flies available for killing in my bathroom while I brushed my teeth?

Jun. 18th, 2008 05:41 pmOh, one further note, I purchased my first Takarazuka DVD two days ago! It's used, but will be worth it I think. It's Tsuki's 2006 Akatsuki No Roma (Rome at Dawn)/Les Bijoux Brilliants. I feel a little like I'm betraying Sora and Wao/O-Hana by not buying something of them first but... It's the Julius Caesar rock opera! C'mon! So, yes... It's winging to me and I will watch it and love it and squish it and... and... and...

Sep. 26th, 2007 03:04 amThoughts, ramblings, and other things:
Have been plagued of late by the ethical implications of watching and by extension supporting Bionic Woman. If you're interested in my concerns and I haven't already waffled all over you, drop a comment and I'll explain further. It has to do with homophobia and actors I like.
Dreams last night were of truly spectacular scariness. End of the world, twice, my brother and two of his friends leaving our house to look after a sick dog and ending up murdered in the back of an SUV, Kara Thrace committing suicide and having her body mailed to Lee Adama. Woke up, it should not be surprising, in a cold sweat. Seriously, will someone calm my subconscious the hell down?
I will be in Seal Beach Friday night to Sunday morning making a pittance to co-kidsit a trio of children during my local Quaker church's retreat. Anyone with suggestion for things that might appeal to a) a baby, b) a very bright kindergarden age girl, c) a seven year old autistic boy, or d) any combination of the above, let me know.
I still fail at life.
ABBA Fantasista is still bouncing around in my head, I'm working on things and hope to start really writing in the next few weeks.
I'm driving again for the first time in three+ years. I think I'm more comfortable this time around, though I desperately wish I was driving my father's car (2002ish Prius) and not mine (1989ish Camry).
Slowly, my room is starting to be a living space again, which is good, I suppose.
I almost wish I played video games like Halo, the Halo 3 voice cast is so awesome. Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, and Katee the Magnificent? Way too cool.
I picked up the season premiere of Bones. They're dealing with the Illuminati. I may watch for awhile...
My grandma is 85. She wants me to house/catsit in a few week so she can go traveling again. How cool is that?
