Oh wise and powerful flist, and, indeed, internet at large.

The theme of my brother's band banquet this year is...SUPERHEROES!!!

Help me out, I need lists and lists of superheroes (pre-existing ones), their special powers, and any theme songs you can provide. I'll update the post as the list gets going. Help me out. No hero too small and weird.

Examples:
Captain Vegetable - Power of healthy eating
Captain Canuck, Johnny Canuck
The Flaming Carrot
Ambush Bug and archnemesis Argh!Yle!, a deranged argyle sock who thinks he's Dr. Doom.


Also for conversation, does one have to have super powers to be a superhero? (ulterior motive: I want to go as the Scarlet Pimpernel, but my family disagrees about whether he counts. My mum is going as Captain Vegetable.)

1) Batman is a superhero, but not a super-powered hero. I think the Scarlet Pimpernel treads the line, but he's like Zorro and Batman. During the French Revolution.

I can provide Superhero after Superhero...

Here's a few:

Longshot - traveler from another dimension with the ability to manipulate "luck"
Drax the Destroyer - Man brought back from the dead. Invincible, strong, dumb as a rock.
Swamp Thing - Plant elemental, similarly a man brought back from the dead (sort of), also invincible. Except for fire.
Cypher - Mutant with the ability to understand any language.
Eros - Mutant alien with the ability to use his charisma to influence the emotions of others. (Gets into a sexual harassment suit with other members of the Avengers...)
Sleepwalker - Has the power to infiltrate other people's dreams and battle nightmares.
Hercules - Purportedly immortal mutant. Powers should be
self-explanatory.
Dr. Strange - The Sorcerer Supreme, wielder of the magic arts, and defender of all that is...a little occult. Looks like Vincent Price.
Thor - The Norse God of thunder, trapped in the body of a humble doctor. Among other people. Wields Mjolnir, his hammer.
Gambit - The Ragin' Cajun. Can charge small objects with kinetic energy, causing them to explode with some force. Weapon of choice is a deck of cards. Has red eyes.

That's ten. I think they're all male. I can always provide more, and women too.

Dude. The Scarlet Pimpernel is not exactly classic superhero forum, but I think that's just cause he was written before superheros were cool.

DO IT. Tell your family to suck it.

And yeah. I want to know if this is for pre-existing superheros or not.

Cause I have some really REALLY fun songs for pre-existing superheroes. You'd like them.
