Oh, frak me. Why NBC? Why have you cast Isaiah Washington, he of the icky anti-gay, in Bionic Woman?
Thing the first: I want to like BW because it co-stars my beloved Katee. I watched Last Sentinel and How I Married My High School Crush for her. But one of the reasons I gave up Grey's Anatomy was him. *CONFLICT*
Thing the second: The sci-fi community, as a whole, has seemed to be a fairly gay friendly sort of place. Why would you cast an actor known for his anti-gay slurs on a sci-fi show? Is that dumb? I think so.

*sulks*
Way to ruin the show before it even starts.

Oh God, word! I read that Katee failed to show up for some press event that happened right after they hired Isaiah, and there was speculation that she was protesting him, but as it turns out it was apparently just contract negotiations for them to keep her on as a regular character. Yay!

(BTW, how was How I Married My High School Crush? I don't even know what channel Lifetime IS where I am, so I missed it.)

It was cutesy. It was really fun to see Katee play outside the asskicker. She had cute black lingerie for a bit, which I appreciated. She was painfully awkward a lot, which hurt. Really ultimately though it was a nice out of type thing for her. She can do better.

I think a more appropriate question would be "Why would you can an actor known for his anti-gay slurs?" full stop.

I Cannot Hide What I Am

I must be sad when I have cause and smile
at no man's jests, eat when I have stomach and wait
for no man's leisure, sleep when I am drowsy and
tend on no man's business, laugh when I am merry and
claw no man in his humour...
I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in
his grace, and it better fits my blood to be
disdained of all than to fashion a carriage to rob
love from any: in this, though I cannot be said to
be a flattering honest man, it must not be denied
but I am a plain-dealing villain. I am trusted with
a muzzle and enfranchised with a clog; therefore I
have decreed not to sing in my cage. If I had my
mouth, I would bite; if I had my liberty, I would do
my liking: in the meantime let me be that I am and
seek not to alter me.
