Hard drive is with someone who, hypothetically, can recover the data. The words "attrition", "Sector 0", and "partition table" are being tossed around. I really don't know that any of those things mean, except that lack of partition table is very very bad. The implication is that all the data is still present, it just needs to be recovered in a specific, and likely complicated, way. Apparently, Linux may be the key. Am FREAKING OUT. Have decided to try hard labour to fight the hysteria that's threatening. What did I do to deserve this?
