Grrrr, parents!

I left my phone off for several days. 'Cause I forget it exists. So my parents decided that since I hadn't called and they hadn't been able to call me that it was okay to call my dorm phone at 7:30 this morning. It's not okay to call me at 7:30 in the morning unless death, doom, and destruction are raining down in great measure.
I turned on my cell and there were five messages on it, each becoming more frantic. Am I crazy, or is it not that bizarre for a college student to be out of touch with her parents for four or five days? Buh.

no. not at all. and most parents should know these days that email is a perfectly viable option for contact. can't reach you by phone--send an email saying "hey, tried to call you, no answer, what's up?" simple as that.

I emailed them in the time they couldn't reach me by phone. It's not like there was no contact at all. *Sigh*

my mom always contacts me by aim.
it shouldn't be bizarre to not hear from an adult person for more than 4 days. some people here on campus probably have problems contacting their parents!
but give them a break, at least it means they care about you... I guess ^_^

That's certainly the theory. It's the daily messages on my voicemail and the 7:30am call that trouble me...It's not like they haven't gotten e-mails from me in that time.

*Sigh*

I Cannot Hide What I Am

I must be sad when I have cause and smile
at no man's jests, eat when I have stomach and wait
for no man's leisure, sleep when I am drowsy and
tend on no man's business, laugh when I am merry and
claw no man in his humour...
I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in
his grace, and it better fits my blood to be
disdained of all than to fashion a carriage to rob
love from any: in this, though I cannot be said to
be a flattering honest man, it must not be denied
but I am a plain-dealing villain. I am trusted with
a muzzle and enfranchised with a clog; therefore I
have decreed not to sing in my cage. If I had my
mouth, I would bite; if I had my liberty, I would do
my liking: in the meantime let me be that I am and
seek not to alter me.
