Tony Postscript
Jun. 7th, 2004 04:40 pmThings I didn't say last night cause I was tired...
Carol Channing: Phenomenal! I love her so much! Yes, I thought that having LL Cool J as a presenter was ridiculous, and I objected to the numerous non-theatre people who were involved in the ceremony, I don't live on the East Coast so I don't get to see Broadway people very often and I want to see them during the Tonys! However, coming off of that tangent, Carol Channing is such a good sport and so much a true lady of the theatre, it's always a joy to see her.
Fashion: How is it that everyone looks gorgeous at the Tonys? I mean, every year I watch the Oscars and think "What the hell are these people thinking?". Then I watch the Tonys and no one is overly risqué and everyone looks amazing! The only person who I didn't adore was Anne Heche, and that's normal. But beautiful colours, gorgeous fabrics, fabulous styles, it was so wonderful to watch!
One last peeve. They didn't do the technical awards on television. It's such a slap to say that the production team doesn't merit 10 stupid minutes of airtime to thank their families and crews. I watched the webcast and it literally took 10 minutes to present the four technical awards (lights, costumes, sets, and orchestrations) Would it have been so horrible to put that on tv?
Tony icons to come, but right now I have to go start dinner...
(Chicken Dunsyre, which is chicken stuffed with blue cheese and bacon)
For now...
