May. 5th, 2004 12:23 amThe year from another perspective...
I thought about all the shows I've done this semester, and then I thought about all the other things I've done...
Began with the horror of a camping trip. Passages was interesting, but ultimately not something I really want to do again. I remember lying out by the Sound and looking at the stars. And shivering. Blech. And I remember coming home on the bus and running to get to the showers first and then sitting and watching Family Guy on the sofa with Nick while the rest of my floor trickled in.
I remember sitting in front of the music building listing to Pres. Thomas during Matriculation and walking around the Colour Post.
This year I was a member of B-GLAD (Bisexuals, Gays, Lesbians, and Allies for Diversity) and UPSStage M! (University of Puget Sound Stage Musicals!). I took weekly swing lessons and became a member of SwingOut! I attended lectures on Slaves and Sex in Ancient Pompeii, Sexuality in Star Trek, Blackface in American Culture, Fanfiction, Aristophanes, Troy, and Playwriting and Juggling, and participated in Queer History Month, National Coming Out Day, Conspiracy of Hope Fair, and National Day of Silence. I manned a booth opposing the Federal Marriage Amendment. I was the archivist for the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas Archive. I attended 3 Symphony Concerts, a Dorians concert, 2 Adelphians concerts, the opera, 2 Ubiquitous They sketch comedy shows, 3 shows in Seattle, a show at the Tacoma Little Theatre, the Lu'au, and an Underground Jazz concert. I gave presentations on Angels in America, the battle of Agincourt, a Neo-Pagan take on the Tempest, the pros and cons of using fresnels for stage lighting, and moving lights. I presented scenes from Equus, Angels in America, King John, and Henry VI 1, as well as monologues from A Winter's Tale, An Ideal Husband, and Henry V, and Sonnet 23. I visited the Museum of Glass and the Tacoma Actor's Guild. I participated in 3 Pagan holiday celebrations and celebrated 3 Jewish holidays on my own. I spent most Friday nights, and some Mondays, at the Cult Classics theme house watching Stargate. I attended screenings of Cocayannis's Iphegenia, HBO's Angels in America, and Swing Kids. I attended 2 campuswide swing dances, a mocktails reception, and a workshop on juggling. I was asked out for the first time and kissed for the first time. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, Big Fish, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and Love Actually through Campus Films. And through it all, I maintained at least a 3.4 GPA.
It's been quite a year...
