May. 4th, 2004 11:16 pmThe Random Pair Generator just recommended that I write Tuvok/Xander fic. I can't even find words to express how goofy that is...
One Acts are over! The last show of my freshman year of college is officially over. Tears...
So by last count, I worked on a whopping 14 shows on-campus this year(plus two off-campus), which apparently makes me psychotic...
Let's remember them, just for fun, and so I don't have to write my paper...
1. The Town Crier Speaks: Student Written/Produced One Act Festival-Rausch. (October 9-11, 2003) Stage Manager/Sound Board Op. The first show here...First time working with Ellie and Wes, discovering that I don't much like working with Wes. Still, fond memories of Ryan dropping his pants, having to wear pantyhose on our heads in the booth, and Five Titles, first experience with Tom and Becca...First cast party. Ever.
2. Iphegenia at Aulis-Norton Clapp Theatre. (October 23-25, 2003) Lighting Hang and Focus Crew. One long day, mostly boring. First time up on the catwalk and Bridge of Doom lighting positions. Geck. Also, not a very good show, at 80 minutes, far too long.
3. The Laramie Project-Rausch. (November 5-8, 2003) ASM. Amazing show, amazing response, first experience with the PLU Gay/Straight Alliance, leading other interesting events.
4. Repertory Dance Group: Define Yourself-NCT. (November 14-15, 2003) Co-Lighting Designer/House Manager. First experience with RDG, getting to work with Tiana and Gene! Drunken frat boys and me in a short skirt...that was bad...Pretty lights...moving lights that I have nightmares about...
5. Senior Directed One Act Festival-NCT. (December 8-10, 2004) Stage Manager. Ahh, three nights of extremely depressing shows, some of them very long. Hanging with Drew and Allison in the booth, getting my LiveJournal during second night show! The horror that was Lucy and the Mystery of the Vine-Encrusted Mansion...First cast party at Chez Teste.
6. Jacobsen Concert Series: Duane Halbert-Schneebeck Concert Hall. (January 30, 2004) Light Board Op. Over 200 cues in 90 minutes, for a piano concert. Good grief, Charlie Brown! A week of cueing for one concert. Learned that the concert hall is possibly the worst designed space, technically speaking, in the history of ever.
7. In the Drawing Room-Rausch. (February 26-29, 2004) Dramaturg/Stage Manager/Sound Board Op. IMF! Longest project I worked on, most rewarding. Made so many friends, rediscovered Edward Gorey, fell for Aub and got over it, worked with Katelyn for the first time. Hell of a time.
8. This is My Play-Rausch. (February 25-29, 2004) Light Board Op. The other half of IMF, "the offensive play". Such a brouhaha. Great group, but so much drama!
9. Wild Goose Circus-NCT. (March 4-6, 2004) Light Hang and Focus Crew. Two days. Four people trying to hang an entire show, not quite of the good, but we managed. Another very bizarre mainstage.
10. Richard III-NCT. (April 1-3, 2004) Lighting Designer/Deck Crew. The drama, the trauma! My first all-nighter for a show. COLIN! (Blood drips...) Cornmeal and endless refocusing...Great party, culminating in my first kiss.
11. A Night on Broadway-Kilworth Chapel. (April 6, 2004) Technical Director/Lights. The first annual UPSStage M! revue, more to come...Simple and relatively low tech, thank goodness. The next one will be in Schneebeck and we'll be off to the races again...
12. RDG: What a Feeling!-Fieldhouse. (April 9-10, 2004) Lighting Designer. Dancers! Arrggggh! I adore Gene, but that was a hassle. Lighting in the Fieldhouse, not so happy. Losing more instruments every night and a board that had to be at least twice my age equals unhappy designer. Plus, I had to run the board...
13. B-GLAD Drag Show-Rotunda. (April 30, 2004) Lighting Designer/Operator. Four hours of setup, a runway that never materialized, and really wanting to kill Aurea. For all that, it was a lovely time, next year may drag it myself...
14. Junior Directed One Acts (May 3-4, 2004) Light Board Op. Fun times working with Anne and Mary Ann. Crossword puzzles during shows and one cue that just wouldn't go right. Ah, well, cie la vie!
Off-campus:
Student Directed Work-Indiana University of Pennsylvania. (October 2003) Dramaturg. Taren called me and said Will you look up the answers to some questions for me? You'll get dramaturg credit and I said sure.
The Laramie Project-Indiana University of Pennsylvania. (March 2004) Taren called me and said I'm directing Laramie, and they'll pay for a dramaturg, will you do it for me, by phone and email? and I said fine. Still haven't been paid...
So that's been the year in shows, wow...I feel like I've really gained a lot.
Wow, that's a lot of work...
