Jun. 28th, 2005 06:03 amMan, the researcher in me just will not shut up sometimes, even when I want to sleep.
Woke up about half an hour ago to take my meds, which I didn't take last night, 'cause I fell asleep. Figured I'd check Yahoo headlines before I went back to sleep. That was the error. Found an article about Hubble in conjunction with JPL's current Deep Impact project. And I thought "What's that?", so I clicked a link...A probe is going to strike the Tempel 1 comet on July 4, create a new crater, and throw a plume of comet debris up, so that the rest of the probe can analyze what the comet is made of. Very cool. The website is awesome, you can do your own ephemeris (a chart that tells you, based on the celestial sphere, where any given celestial body will be in relation to you), see a chart of where Deep Impact and Tempel 1 are in relation to Earth right now (give it a little time to load the Java applet), and read all about the project. And no, a half hour ago, I didn't know anything about any of these things...
Silly dramaturgical instincts...Rania's gonna get a kick out of this though...
