I have a new hockey girlfriend. It happened last night during the Opening Ceremony.

This is Hayley Wickenheiser:

She's the Captain of the Team Canada women's hockey squad. If you watched the OC last night, she was the one who read the athlete's oath. She's pretty and she has a great voice, which are what made me notice her last night. Today, I investigated further and it turns out, she's TOTALLY AWESOME.

2010 is Hayley's 5th Olympic appearance. She also played with the Canadian women's softball squad in Sydney. She won gold in Salt Lake City and Torino and silver in Nagano. She's the first woman to make her living playing pro-hockey, not as a goalie. She did two years on Finnish teams and a year Division 1 with a Swedish team. Those are men's hockey squads, She can take a check and throw one, because she's just that badass. She has an honorary doctorate from Nipissing University. She traveled to Rwanda with Right to Play. If she hadn't been a hockey player, she'd want to be working against the AIDS crisis in Africa. She has a children's book written about her called Born to Play. She's been IIHF Best Women's Forward of the tournament twice, 2007 & 2009, and she was MVP in 2007. She was Olympic MVP in both gold medal runs. On April 1, 2010, the first Hayley Wickenheiser International Women's Hockey Tournament will open in Burnaby, BC. (I wanna go)

This is Hayley Wickenheiser and she is AWESOME.

(If anyone can find a pic of her taking the oath in the Opening Ceremonies, I would be extremely appreciative)

I Cannot Hide What I Am

I must be sad when I have cause and smile
at no man's jests, eat when I have stomach and wait
for no man's leisure, sleep when I am drowsy and
tend on no man's business, laugh when I am merry and
claw no man in his humour...
I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in
his grace, and it better fits my blood to be
disdained of all than to fashion a carriage to rob
love from any: in this, though I cannot be said to
be a flattering honest man, it must not be denied
but I am a plain-dealing villain. I am trusted with
a muzzle and enfranchised with a clog; therefore I
have decreed not to sing in my cage. If I had my
mouth, I would bite; if I had my liberty, I would do
my liking: in the meantime let me be that I am and
seek not to alter me.
