I just scrapped everything I've done so far, which was still only a third of an essay, because I couldn't understand what I meant. Why couldn't he have just given us a real prompt? Y'know, the kind that actually narrows things down more than a little? 'Cause if this is the span of all possible paper topics on the Iliad:

what he's done is cut it down to this:
l---------------------------------------l, but phrased it so that you can't really use anything.
It's like a skirt with panniers. Too broad to actually fit through a door, but narrow enough to trip you if you try to go anywhere in it...
